  Hi all!

I hope this is allowed. I just wanted to invite some cat lovers to my new community kitty_palooza. I love cat pictures, and their stories, and though it would be a great place to share them. I hope to see some of you there! Thanks.

I'm infuriated and I thought you all should know.. and I will keep you updated as THESE events unfold.

I just received a call about Klaus.

a) the vet we saw in towson did not estimate her correct age. she is three weeks younger than he predicted, meaning she was 6 weeks when we found her.. making her digestive system significantly underdeveloped- moreso than we thought originally.

b) the vet we saw in towson told us her tail had to be amputated immediately. he told us we were irresponsible for not putting the money down and advised us to keep her there at the office (at our cost). He told us the tail was rotting.. that it was in TERRIBLE condition. and, as we have felt her tail and the bones felt completely destroyed, we agreed with him. him.. the medical professional.

WELL.

the Light Street Vet Hospital examined her with TWO doctors. NEITHER of them felt fractures. in FACT, they think it's RINGWORM.

they say amputation is premature.

they are taking cultures, gave her vaccinations, giving her a bath, and say we can take her home whenever we please. in 10 days, we'll reconvene and see where to go from there.

i'm contacting the better buisiness bureau. i called the spca and that was their recommendation.

i can't believe he even SUGGESTED amputation when they don't even feel a fracture.

i still want to know why her tail feels flattened//chunky [quite the paradigm, that combination].

I'll keep you posted...

  hey everyone,

i just wanted to provide you with an update about the kitten [the one whose tail needs amputation].

It was of overwhelming consensus that I should seek another vet, which I did. The ASPCA provided me with the name of a reputable hospital in Baltimore (Light Street Vetinary Hospital, for those with interest). They quoted me 300 dollars, which is 400 less than the vet here in Towson.

The facility is clean and friendly.

They were less concerned with cash as they were for the kitten.

I brought her in this morning and I should have her back by tomorrow.

Thank you to ALL of you who donated money. We appreciate it so much. From your generosity, we received $220. As the fee is now significantly reduced, I feel almost guilty.. so if you donated and don't feel like it was worthwhile, please let me know and we'll be happy to reimburse you.

The kindness, the advice, the suggestions, and the care serve to reaffirm a confidence in humanity: if all of you can come together for an anonymous college student with a stray kitty, imagine what you can do for the world.

All my best and all our thanks,

Alexys, Charlotte, and [Tindra] Klaus [Terez]

for the record, i suppose, here's a picture of the kitten's tail from the underside. i can't get a better shot without wiping out the image or making it too blurry. what you can't really tell is that a) the flesh is blackish and b) she's chewed beyond the surface layers.

now she's looking at me.

sheknowsi'mtalkingabouther.

maybe too big..? + two other tail shotsCollapse )

Hey guys, I have something of a plea for all of you.

I don't really expect anything to come of this, but tis the season...

my roommate and i rescued a kitten from a sewer drain under our driveway last week. she's about 10 weeks old (must have been around 8 when we found her) and the sweetest little thing ever.

sadly, her tail is crushed in two places.

her tail has died and is beginning to rot.

she chews on it and then meows in pain, then continues chewing.

we went to the vet yesterday and he refuses to work with her until she gets her shots. that's something we have to do anyway, but the kicker is that we have to get the tail AMPUTATED.

This means we're looking at a bill of almost 700 dollars.

he's asked that we have 400 today. 400 dollars! i work at a gas station! my roommate is unemployed!! we're freakin' college students!!

so I implore of you... if you have it in your heart or your wallet to spare some money.. 5 bucks, even.. we'd appreciate it so much. more importantly, our kitty will appreciate it.

I wouldn't ask if it wasn't so important.

and now.. behind the cut.. pictures of our precious Tindra Klaus Terez (but we call her Klaus)Collapse )

There's a new cat community up called felinebehavior. It's a place to discuss your cat's strange behavior, be it curious, smart, comical, or just plain odd. Ask questions and discuss those unique feline behaviors that aren't necessarily problems, but get our attention.

I made this community because I've been part of a forum of the same nature that just seems to be dead now. I really enjoyed hearing about all these different cats' cute or quirky ways. I hope you'll all join and share your cats' with everyone. We can discuss solutions, laugh about the cute nature of your cat, or be there to support each other in those troubled times.

Hi everyone. I'm a big fan of animals, especially cats. I have two now and here they are. I believe they maybe Norwegian Forest cats, but I'm not sure. One is 20 pounds and the other is only about 10.

My name is Ashley, and I have just rescently come into owning a raggie baby. Her name is My Precious Clear Blue Sky, she is a little under 4 months old. I found her through Petfinder, a nice older woman had rescued her from a unreputable breeder paying a small fee as she doesn't have the perfect markings of a Ragdoll. When the woman rescued her she was malnurished, and infested with fleas and her coat was very ill taken care of. She was rescued at 6 weeks old, and then last month the caretaker of her could no longer keep her because she is deathly afraid of larger animals and the woman happened to own a few large dogs. She didn't feel it was right to let the poor kitten live in fear surrounded by the large dogs, so she put her up for adoption on the Petfinder's classifieds. I talked with the woman for two weeks before finally being able to go and pick up the beautiful raggie baby. She is the softest thing I've ever felt and she will purr her heart out when held like a baby. She goes into a little coma if you pet her for long enough and will even roll on her back and sleep. I'm in love with the Ragdoll breed, and am thinking highly of getting another rescue raggie or waiting for a reject from the breeder's standards.

Pee Problem

Hello. I desperately need some advice. My 6-year-old tabby pees on my bed. I've ruled out a urinary tract infection. It is definitely a behavioral issue because the only time he does it is after I have company over. I don't mean "company" as in a hookup, but I mean anyone (except me) who goes in the room for any reason even for a minute. For example the cable company sent a technician in to repair a jack. He was only there for a minute and I had locked the cat in another room when the technician was here. This happens every time someone goes in the room and never any other time. Also, he always pees on the side of the bed where I sleep.

Please help. What can I do?

Thanks.

  Need advice on cats
Hello everyone,

I am posting my first journal on the topic of cats, I am requiring information regarding my three male cats caramel, fuzzy, and lucky. I am very interested to know more on ways for my cat lucky to get along with my other two cats. Lucky is aproximately 10 months old and was given to me by my neighbour who could not take care of him and was going to put him down cause of his personality. That is why I am calling him "lucky" he is a beautiful cat and I I want to know somehow or someway for my three cats to get along cause I have had no luck for the last three weeks with lucky.

If anyone know a solution please send me some comments, this is the first time I experience something like this.

Thank you
Katie

update on my baby simba. Remember how I said he couldn't dig his poop right and would come out with poop. With two days of training him how to dig right after he poops I think he got the message. He pooped twice today and did it right without getting poop on his paws. I'm so proud of him I hope he keeps on with the good work. I'm glad his healthy also. The vet told me his crying on the litter isn't something bad because to the vet simba has everything fine. I guess I have a vocal cat.

I wanted to ask this to everyone. OKay my simba, when he goes to the litter he cries..like everytime he pee's and poops? Does this mean his afraid of the litter? Or does it mean his in pain when he does his business? thanks

I have a cat and she's 2 years plus now. Love her to bits. And she loves me too. Mainly coz I give her the most attention compared to others in my family. I think I spoilt her. She can get too whiny at times. But most of the time, she's sweet and adorable. I think I got the sweetest and most demure cat ever. Don't believe me? See for yourself:

See what I told you? =P
